    Donation FAQ

    Yes! Please send checks to:

    Long Beach State Athletics
    Attn: Walter Pyramid Box Office
    P.O. Box 50109
    Long Beach, CA  90815

Please make checks payable to the CSULB 49er Foundation.

In the "For" or "Memo" line write the gift purpose: Beach Athletic Fund

You may add the sport after Beach Athletic Fund for further designation.

Established in 1960 as the 49er Club of Long Beach, Inc., the Beach Athletic Fund is the fundraising arm of Long Beach State Athletics. The primary purpose of the Beach Athletic Fund is to raise funds to offset the rising costs of athletic scholarships for Long Beach State student-athletes. While the name of the organization has changed since 1960, the purpose has always been focused upon investing in the success of student-athletes and our teams both on and off the field of competition.

There are multiple reasons changes needed to be made to membership benefits.

    1. First, an assessment was conducted to identify the scholarship support needed to fund Long Beach State Athletics teams at a championship level within the Big West Conference and among the best in the west coast. This assessment has shown funding deficiencies that impact recruiting and scholarship support—such as providing cost of attendance for LBSU Basketball programs.
    2. Second, an assessment regarding the cost of membership benefits provided to donors showed that the impact of giving became diminished because of the cost to operate hospitality areas. For example, the cost to operate the Ukleja Suite substantially diminished the impact of gifts on student-athletes from the former Director's Circle level membership.
    3. Third, a qualitative survey was sent to the entire membership that donates to Long Beach State Athletics. Following a deep review of each survey, several key themes arose that needed to be addressed in membership benefits. The themes that emerged from membership were:
      • Unified approach to supporting Long Beach State Athletics, our sport programs and especially our student-athletes
      • Better hospitality experience in the Ukleja Suite and Courtside Sandbar (Walter Pyramid) and the Pavilion (Bohl Diamond at Blair Field)
      • Importance of parking priority at the Walter Pyramid and Bohl Diamond at Blair Field
      • The Director's Circle level of the Beach Athletic Club was confusing to a large number of supporters as a separate organization from the entire Athletic Department.

Following these assessments, changes were made to the membership benefits starting July 1, 2019 that reflected the recommendations.

Every member in the Beach Athletic Fund matters. We are grateful for our longtime supporters that support student-athletes success in the classroom and fields of competition.

The membership level known for many years as the Director's Circle was a part of the LBSU Athletics fundraising organization and was not a separate organization. However, a growing misperception arose that the Director's Circle was a separate organization causing confusion and lack of unity within the formerly named Beach Athletic Club.

Membership levels of the Beach Athletic Fund moving forward will reflect the impact made by members on Long Beach State student-athletes. For example, an in-state scholarship costs $21,500 and the $21,500 level will be the Full-Ride Scholarship Level. If you make a gift at any level from $49 to $21,500+, you will be considered a Beach Athletic Fund member. What benefits will be offered will be determined by your investment amount in LBSU student-athletes (see our BAF Membership Benefits Chart for more details).

Just as in times past, your investment in Long Beach State student-athletes through the Beach Athletic Fund will help us build upon our storied past. Every member of the Beach Athletic Fund matters and we ask that you continue to contribute to impact the lives of our 350 student-athletes.

Annual gifts (Beach Athletic Fund scholarship gifts and program-specific gifts) and Major Gifts (Capital projects, endowments, and planned gifts) are tax-deductible minus benefits received and will be issued a tax receipt from the CSULB 49er Foundation.

However, due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Acts that went into effect on January 1, 2018, any season ticket purchases are no longer tax-deductible. This includes what was previously known as seat donations. That is why there are no longer required donations for basketball seats.

For any tax matter please consult your tax professional.

NO REQUIRED SEAT DONATIONS - Due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Acts that went into effect on January 1, 2018, any season ticket purchases are no longer tax-deductible. This includes what was previously known as seat donations. Required donations are no longer added to basketball tickets.

REDUCED PRICING - The overall cost per seat has been reduced throughout the arena. Primarily, seats in Section 104 (behind the Conference mandated visitor seat allotment) have been reduced to $150 each. Section 111 has been reduced to $99 until chair back seats are installed.

PARKING AND HOSPITALITY - The benefits of parking and hospitality access (Ukleja Suite and Courtside Sandbar) will be directly connected to membership investment levels as a Beach Athletic Fund member.

The Ukleja Suite experience will be enhanced beginning with the Basketball season in 2019. There will be pregame meals, desserts, guest speakers, and complimentary beer and wine.

With this enhanced experience, the need to increase scholarship support for Long Beach State student-athletes, and based upon feedback from Beach Athletic Fund membership survey, membership access to the Ukleja Suite will increase from the Partial Tuition Level ($2,500) to the Full Tuition Level ($5,000) of investment for Beach Athletic Fund members.

To show gratitude for the loyal support of our former Director's Circle level BAF members (giving between $2,500-$4,999), we will extend access to the Ukleja Suite for the 2019-20 year. In 2020-21 and beyond, all Beach Athletic Fund members must invest in LBSU student-athletes at the Tuition level ($5,000) or higher to gain access to the Ukleja Suite.

For more information, please call Camden Stockton at 562-985-5910 or by email at camden.stockton@csulb.edu.

The Courtside Sandbar access has been lowered for members of the Beach Athletic Fund. In the past, there was a required $5,000+ contribution required to gain access to the Sandbar. In 2019-20 and beyond, the School Fees level ($1,000+) will be granted access into the Courtside Sandbar during open basketball and volleyball regular season games.

Beach Athletic Fund membership run from July 1st through June 30th each year. In 2019, renewals for memberships will begin in May and conclude on October 1. For receiving the full benefits of your Beach Athletic Fund membership, please renew by October 1.
